This
we know. The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the
earth...... All things are interconnected, like the blood which
unites one family..... Man did not weave the web of life; he is
merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to
himself.

This
passage describes well the philosophy and focus of our biology course.
We will be helping our students understand the many interconnections and
relationships that exist in nature and where humans fit into these
relationships and what our responsibilities are. Biology is a
course required for graduation from high school by the state of North
Carolina. There is a state End-of-Course test that all students must
take. We will be working hard to help each student be successful in this
course. I am dedicated to doing my
part in helping your student do well on this test. But of course,
ultimately, it is up to the student! I am also dedicated to
helping your student become interested in biology! It is a fascinating
and changing field of study. I want all of my students to learn to ask
important questions and to explore the complexities with open minds. I
am looking forward to a year full of adventure and success. |
